You’ve probably worn socks at some point in your life. Sure, there are times when we wear sandals, but if you’ve ever worn shoes, you’ve probably worn socks. While crazy socks are constantly growing in popularity, custom socks have been just as popular.

Custom socks have been extremely popular for all types of occasions, including:

athletic
Wedding
family union
Pet Socks
Custom Socks As Gift
The list goes on. There are a few different things to understand when ordering. We will consider them today.

1. Socks type.

To keep things simple, we’ll cover the 3 basic types of socks:

1. Ankle

2. Team

3. Knee Length

1. Ankle Socks

The ankle socks go up to the ankle as you can imagine. These are standard socks. While very common, these aren’t always best for custom as they don’t leave much room for true custom design.

2. Crew Socks

Crew socks are very popular for crazy and customized socks. Cycling socks are designed to reach the middle of the calf. This gives more space with the custom design, but not high enough to go beyond the knee.

3. Knee High Socks

As you can imagine, the knee high socks go up to the knee level or slightly above. These tend to be popular with athletic sports like softball or baseball, or those who enjoy parties, festivals, or over-the-knee socks.

Which one should you order?

We always recommend ordering crew socks for custom orders as they allow enough room for a full custom design but are not as high as knee-high that most people don’t wear in a typical situation. Crew socks can be worn both at work and casually, making them the most practical.

Be sure to check the type of sock material as well, as a material like 100% cotton will be very different from a 100% polyester sock in terms of how it is worn and also how it prints.

For example, a cotton sock will likely not have a very clear print on it, while polyester will have a much more refined printed design. When choosing your design, be sure to check with the company to make sure they can adapt to the type of design you are interested in.
