3.25 mm crochet hook
Light weight/ DK yarn: coated cotton for the sample – 22 inches head circumference  ( 100 gr or 328 yds per skein )
( Substitute yarn that you can use: raffia or waxed cotton yarn )

Inc sc = 2 single crochet in same stitch

Dec hdc= Half double crochet 2 stitches together

Dc = Double crochet

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/ round, so just choose your best technique.

R4: ( inc dc, dc in next 2 sts ) x 12 times around, total 48 sts, sl into 1st stitch to join.

R5: ( 3 dc across, inc dc in next st ) x 12 times around, total 60 sts, sl into 1st stitch to join.

R6: ( inc dc, 4 dc across ) x 12 times around, total 72 sts, sl into 1st stitch to join.
